Plan Reviewers often face challenges such as interpreting complex construction documents, keeping up-to-date with evolving codes and regulations, and managing tight deadlines for multiple projects simultaneously. About Matrix Basement Finishing

Matrix Basement Finishing is a leading Midwest remodeling company specializing in transforming basements into high-quality, functional living spaces. We are committed to craftsmanship, operational excellence, and delivering an exceptional customer experience from contract to completion.

As we continue to grow in the Madison market, we are seeking a Plan Review Specialist who combines strong construction knowledge with a customer-first mindset.

Why Join Matrix Basement Finishing?

At Matrix, we don't just build basements - we build systems, teams, and careers. This role is mission-critical to delivering operational excellence and protecting the customer experience.

If you understand construction deeply and can communicate confidently with homeowners, this is a high-impact opportunity in a growing market.

This is not an entry-level administrative role. The ideal candidate has hands-on construction knowledge, understands residential building codes, and can communicate clearly with homeowners and field teams.

  • Clarify any discrepancies between design intent and construction feasibility

  • Serve as a professional and knowledgeable point of contact during pre-build stages

  • Maintain a calm, solutions-oriented approach when addressing concerns

Cross-Department Collaboration
  • Work closely with Sales, Design Consultants, Project Managers, and Production

  • Ensure seamless project handoff into scheduling and installation

  • Provide detailed notes and documentation within internal systems
Core Competencies
  • Construction problem-solving mindset

  • Code literacy and compliance awareness

  • High-level organization and documentation accuracy

  • Conflict resolution and expectation management

  • Customer-first communication style

  • Operational awareness (understanding downstream impact on scheduling and crews)

  • Projects move into production with minimal change orders

  • Reduced build delays due to pre-construction oversight

  • High customer satisfaction before installation begins

  • Strong alignment between Sales promises and field execution

  • Increased efficiency in permitting approvals

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary based on experience
