To thrive as a Building Inspector, you need a solid understanding of construction codes, safety regulations, and inspection procedures, typically supported by relevant certifications or a background in construction or engineering. Familiarity with inspection software, digital reporting tools, and code reference systems is commonly required. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help inspectors identify issues and work with contractors or property owners.
