The Pipelayer Laborer performs manual labor tasks to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground pipelines. May include preparing job sites, handling materials, and assisting skilled pipelayers with the placement and alignment of pipe systems. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Under the supervision of a higher-level operation or maintenance employee, performs a variety of tasks in the maintenance, repair, and operation of pipeline systems and associated facilities

•Perform general manual labor tasks as assigned to support pipeline installation and repair

•Assist with laying, aligning, and connecting pipes for water, sewer, or drainage systems

•Clean and prepare job sites, including trench preparation and debris removal

•Load, unload, and transport pipes, tools, and construction materials

•Handle power tools and materials, i.e., such as saws and drills.

•Backfill trenches and compact soil to secure installed pipelines

•Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks i.e., digging, stacking goods.
•Put up warning signs for vehicles and passerby.
•Help with setting up and transferring temporary structures, i.e., scaffolding.
•Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions.
•Performs other duties as described under Helper.


•Demonstrated ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions.
•Responsible for the health and safety of others. Practices good safety habits.
•Perform a variety of duties which may often change.
•Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
•Repeat tasks of short duration according to a sect procedure.
•Knowledge of trade tools, equipment, materials, methods, and techniques.
•On-the-job training required. May require driver’s license.
•Minimum OSHA 10 required.
•Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, walk, and work at heights for extendedperiods of time.
•Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects.
•Lift and carry materials, sometimes weighing 50 to 100 pounds.
•Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects while carrying tools and equipment.
•Must always wear protective or safety equipment, i.e., safety boots/shoes, glasses, gloves, hearingprotection, and hard hats and follow safety guidelines.
