As we continue with another busy season, we are looking to add Pipelayers - Pipelayer Helpers to our Underground Water & Sewer Division.

Pipelayers are responsible for assembling, connecting, and constructing pipe systems for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains. Ensures ground is prepped and trenches dug out for pipes. Aligns pipes and seals joints together with cement or glue.
Wilco is currently seeking Pipelayers, or experienced Water and Sewer Personnel to join our diverse and dynamic team and performs some or all the following:

  • Measuring and configuring pipe routes.
  • Laying pipe to design grade and ensuring proper tamping of pipe.
  • Gathering material and installation tools.
  • Locating installed piping systems using magnetic or radio indicators.
  • Removing old or broken piping systems.
  • Laying pipes into trenches and applying pipe spacers.
  • Checking pipe alignment and sealing pipes with cement glue.
  • Installing auxiliary lines.
  • Sealing exposed pipe joints and fittings.
  • Filling and sealing pipe trenches.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a Pipelayer.
  • Minimum 1 year’s experience as either a Pipelayer or skilled Labourer in a utility installation setting.
  • Knowledge of sewer systems, storm drains, and water mains.
  • Possess a minimum valid Class 5 driver's license with reliable vehicle.
  • CSTS2020 is a condition of Employment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and city maps.
  • Excellent physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy objects frequently.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Mobile smart phone to document time and Safety documents.
