Job description

The Pipefitter is responsible for the installation, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of piping systems used in chemical processing operations. This role ensures that all piping systems are installed and maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and plant procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble, fabricate, and maintain piping systems including valves, fittings, and supports for process, utility, and safety systems
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and blueprints to determine layout and installation requirements
  • Measure, cut, thread, and weld pipe using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Perform hydrotesting, leak testing, and system verification to ensure integrity and compliance
  • Troubleshoot and repair piping systems to minimize downtime and maintain safe operations
  • Install pipe supports, hangers, and brackets following engineering standards
  • Work closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to support plant projects and day-to-day operations
  • Participate in plant turnarounds, outages, and capital projects
  • Follow all safety procedures, OSHA standards, and PSM requirements
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and ensure proper handling of materials

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training preferred
