POSITION IS LOCATED IN COLUMBUS, TX
WELDER/FITTER BENEFITS:

Position Summary: Responsible for completing routine welding and fitting assignments within clearly defined processes while working under moderate supervision.
PIPE WELDER/FITTER
  • Uses metal core mig, fluxcore, subarc, tig or stick welding processes (must pass two or more)
  • Reads and understands P & ID drawings and other package layout drawings to determine appropriate welding process
  • May weld brackets and braces and use grinders. May position pieces to be welding into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools. May perform position welds on code materials
  • Proficient in flame and plasma cutting torches
  • Be able to read and understand blueprints and perform own fit-up
  • Must be able to operates basic cutting equipment
  • May layout and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates
  • Positions pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools
  • Works with different types and sizes of structural materials
  • Inspects complete welds to determine structural soundness
  • Operates cutting equipment
  • Safely operates iron worker, overhead cranes, rigging, pipe threading machine, welding machine, tube bending machine, and various pneumatic hand tools
  • Assembly of components with some fabrication of equipment needed for the job

Required Test:
  • Must be able to pass a 6G weld test; vessel or pipe
  • Must be able to pass a written fitters exam

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent or equal combination of education and experience
  • Must have five (5) years related experience and/or training; welding school or on the job training
  • Knowledge of different types and sizes of pipe and vessel material

Physical Strain:
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 30 pounds
  • Bending, squatting, climbing, pulling, stooping, twisting, reaching, working at elevated heights
