Job description

Job Profile: Industrial Insulator (Metal Mechanic - MM)

Reports To: Insulation Foreman


Company Overview

ISO Services is a 40+ year old industrial service and construction company providing all disciplines of industrial maintenance and construction. We are a division of Ergon Construction Group, an Ergon, Inc. company. Our services include specialty trades (insulation, fireproofing, painting/coatings, scaffolding & heat tracing) in addition to our mechanical and civil capabilities.


Position Overview:

The Industrial Insulator/Metal Mechanic is responsible for the installation of insulation and metal coverings. The MM is also tasked with following all safety rules set forth by ISO Services. The MM should be knowledgeable in all aspects of insulation and be willing to help in other areas of the shop when needed.


Applicable Experience & Competencies:

  • Must have the endurance, strength and skill to install insulation and sheet metal covering - for example, employees must be capable of installing pipe insulation and metal coverings from ladders, scaffolding and pipe racks
  • Must have the flexibility to work from ground level all the way to overhead work
  • Must have the ability to climb ladders and work from ladders, scaffolding, suspended scaffolding, pipe racks, and manlifts
  • Must demonstrate techniques in both hot and cold insulation applications
  • Must demonstrate techniques in removeable blanket measurement and construction
  • Must demonstrate the installation techniques for insulation and metal covering for tees, elbows, valves, pumps, horizontal and vertical vessels, vessel heads and also brushed and troweled material
  • Multi-tasking - Must be open to additional responsibilities in other craft areas
  • Must take initiative to learn methods for insulating large tanks
  • Must be reliable and have a positive attitude
  • Attention to Detail
  • Must understand the nature of construction work and be flexible for both types of work and schedule

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in the summer and winter for a full 10-12 hour shift, as schedule demands
  • Must be physically able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Must be able to pass a physical examination (including a pulmonary test) and a drug screen
  • Must be willing to travel
