What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Ping Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Ping Engineer, you need a strong background in network engineering, troubleshooting, and TCP/IP protocols, typically supported by a degree in computer science or related certifications like CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA. Familiarity with network monitoring tools, command-line utilities (such as ping, traceroute), and enterprise network management systems is essential. Excellent analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication make someone stand out in this position. These skills and qualities ensure reliable network performance, rapid issue resolution, and seamless connectivity across organizational infrastructures.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals working in network monitoring and administration roles such as those using Ping tools?

Professionals working in network monitoring and administration often encounter challenges such as quickly identifying and resolving network latency or downtime, managing performance across distributed systems, and balancing proactive monitoring with reactive troubleshooting. These roles require continuous vigilance, effective use of diagnostic tools like Ping, and clear communication across IT teams to minimize disruptions. Adapting to evolving technologies and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of network protocols are also essential for long-term success in this field.

What is a Ping in a professional context?

In a professional context, 'Ping' is typically not a job title but rather a term used in information technology and communications. It refers to a network utility used to test the reachability of a host on an Internet Protocol (IP) network and to measure the round-trip time data takes to travel from one device to another. IT professionals might 'ping' a server or device to troubleshoot connectivity issues. In some organizations, 'ping' may also be used informally as a verb meaning to send a quick message or alert to someone, often via email or chat. There is no widely recognized job title called 'Ping.'

At Ping Identity, we believe in making digital experiences both secure and seamless for all users, without compromise. We call this digital freedom. And it's not just something we provide our customers. It's something that inspires our company. People don't come here to join a culture that's built on digital freedom. They come to cultivate it.
Our intelligent, cloud identity platform lets people shop, work, bank, and interact wherever and however they want. Without friction. Without fear.
While protecting digital identities is at the core of our technology, protecting individual identities is at the core of our culture. We champion every identity. Ping aspires to deliver the most comprehensive identity security platform by bringing the best AI, security, and infrastructure providers into our ecosystem. As a Technology Alliance Manager - AI Partnerships, you will lead and expand Ping's AI-focused technology alliances, driving co-innovation, co-market, and co-sell initiatives that position Ping as the identity foundation for AI-powered enterprises.

  • Support partners in leveraging Ping APIs, SDKs, orchestration, and identity services to deliver differentiated joint solutions
  • Ensure integrations support secure human and non-human (machine/agentic) identities.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Partner teams to drive joint go-to-market initiatives including solution briefs, field enablement, campaigns, and co-selling motions.
  • Develop compelling AI-powered identity use cases that resonate with enterprise buyers.
  • Track and optimize partnership performance across pipeline contribution, adoption, and revenue impact
  • Facilitate executive-level collaboration between Ping and partner leadership.
  • Own strategic initiatives, delivering measurable outcomes and reporting progress to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide partners with the resources, enablement, and guidance needed to succeed within Ping's ecosystem.
  • Assist the Technology Alliances team with program direction, governance, and ecosystem evolution.

Essential Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience in technology alliances, business development, partner success, or ecosystem management within SaaS.
  • 4+ years working in AI, identity, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, or developer platforms.
  • Strong understanding of APIs, modern identity standards (OAuth, OIDC), and AI/ML ecosystem fundamentals.
  • Proven success driving co-build, co-market, and co-sell initiatives that deliver measurable business results.
  • Experience managing complex technology partnerships.
  • Strong business planning and go-to-market strategy skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and executives.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, emerging technology environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct experience with AI platforms, GenAI providers, fraud detection technologies, or identity verification vendors.
  • Technical background or experience working closely with product and engineering teams.

Compensation Range: $129,000 - $162,000
