Job Summary:
BigR.io is a remote-based technology consulting firm headquartered in Boston, MA, specializing in software solutions and data analytics. They are seeking a highly skilled Senior System Engineer with extensive experience in NetApp storage systems to design, implement, and manage complex storage environments while ensuring optimal performance and availability.
Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and manage complex NetApp storage environments.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the availability and performance of the storage infrastructure.
• Develop and implement storage strategies and procedures to ensure optimal performance and availability.
• Provide technical expertise in the development of solutions and proposals for customers.
• Lead the resolution of complex storage issues, working with vendors and other technical teams as required.
• Develop and maintain documentation of storage systems, configurations, and procedures.
• Participate in capacity planning and performance analysis activities.
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures.
• Provide training and mentoring to junior members of the team.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex NetApp storage environments.
• Strong knowledge of NetApp storage technologies including ONTAP, FAS, AFF, and Clustered Data ONTAP.
• Experience with storage protocols including NFS, CIFS, iSCSI, and FCP.
• Strong understanding of virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.
• Experience with backup and recovery solutions, including NetBackup and Commvault.
• Strong understanding of networking technologies and protocols.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Preferred:
• NetApp certification such as NCDA or NCIE is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of cloud computing technologies, such as AWS and Azure.
• Familiarity with storage virtualization and data management.
• Experience with containerization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
