Job description

Labcorp is seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to join our team at our Durham, NC!

Location: Durham, NC.

Applicants who live within 35 miles of Durham, NC location will follow a hybrid schedule. This schedule includes a minimum of three in office days per week in Durham, supporting both collaboration and flexibility.

Work Schedule: This is a fulltime, exempt (salaried) position assigned to a First Shift schedule, with standard business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST.

Business needs may occasionally require flexibility in work hours, including earlier, later, or additional hours, with reasonable notice provided when possible.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and implement AWS cloud infrastructure and services with a focus on security, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Provision and manage AWS accounts using Account Factory within AWS Control Tower landing zones.
  • Configure and manage AWS Config to evaluate, audit, and monitor AWS resource configurations.
  • Deploy and maintain AWS Security Hub, AWS GuardDuty, and AWS Resilience Hub to support continuous security monitoring and resilience planning.
  • Manage AWS Identity Center for centralized identity and access management.
  • Configure AWS Firewall Manager to standardize and enforce firewall policies across AWS environments.
  • Apply FinOps practices to optimize cloud spend and drive financial accountability for cloud operations.
  • Partner with architecture and engineering teams to design scalable, secure cloudbased services.
  • Troubleshoot system issues across platform and application domains and recommend architecture and process improvements.
  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies, tools, and vendor offerings for business suitability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Technology.
  • 5 or more years of experience working as an AWS Cloud Engineer or in a cloud engineering role.
  • 5 or more years of experience using AWS services including Account Factory, AWS Config, AWS Control Tower, AWS Security Hub, AWS GuardDuty, AWS Resilience Hub, AWS Identity Center, and AWS Firewall Manager.
  • 5 or more years of experience using scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
  • 5 or more years of experience working with infrastructureascode tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Security Specialty

Additional Job Standards

  • Experience applying FinOps principles and cloud costoptimization practices.
  • Experience with cloud security solutions and security best practices.
  • Strong problemsolving skills with the ability to work in fastpaced environments.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with architecture, engineering, and security teams.

The Senior AWS Cloud Engineer designs, builds, and manages secure, scalable AWS environments that support enterprise applications and services. This role plays a critical part in cloud governance, security, automation, and financial management. The engineer works closely with architecture, engineering, and operations teams to ensure AWS environments are reliable, compliant, and aligned with Labcorp's technology and security standards. The role contributes to continuous improvement of cloud platforms while enabling innovation through standardized and wellarchitected solutions.
