Duration: 12 months with extension
Location: Chicago, IL

Plays a key role in managing and enhancing the backup environment. Provide application support and reliable backup systems. Proactive capacity planning and preparing the infrastructure for immediate needs and future growth. Implementation of new installations and deployments. Contractor in the on-call rotation, providing critical support for backup solutions.
Their key responsibilities included:
• Perform daily checks to monitor the health of remote backup environments.
• Complete backup requests across data centers and remote sites.
• Upgrade firmware on Veritas Flex \ Veritas Appliances to remain security compliant.
• Resolve United Airlines security VITs on Veritas Flex \ Veritas Appliances through ongoing Security Remediations, enhancing the security posture of the backup systems.
• Assists with migration and consolidation of Veritas Appliances in remote sites and decommissioning old equipment, optimizing resources, and reducing overhead.
• Provides technical expertise in pre-sales qualification and delivering technical architectural designs, strategies, and plans, contributing to the company's strategic engagements.
• Develops and oversees policies and procedures to ensure consistent backup provisioning, uptime, regulatory compliance, and data protection, thereby upholding high operational standards.
• Involved in disaster recovery (DR) testing for backups, role includes executing simulated recovery scenarios to validate the effectiveness of our backup and recovery processes. Ensures that critical data could be restored within defined recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs). This includes coordinating with IT teams to perform test restores, identifying any gaps or weaknesses in our DR plan, and recommending improvements to enhance data resiliency and minimize downtime in the event of an actual disaster.
• Participate configuring NetBackup policies, performing regular backup jobs, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the overall integrity of the backup system. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize backup strategies, streamline recovery processes, and maintain compliance with data protection standards.
• Provide on-call support for NetBackup, ensuring that backup and recovery operations ran smoothly outside of regular working hours. My responsibilities included troubleshooting and resolving backup failures, monitoring system performance, and addressing any issues that arose with backup jobs or recovery processes.
