Job description

SUMMARY:
The Recreation Attendant assists the Resident Services Coordinators, and Resident Services Manager by performing opening and closing procedures of the recreation facility and bowling alley, and assisting or directing residents and visitors to the recreation center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Recreation Attendant duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Offers assistance to residents and visitors in understanding use of recreation center and bowling alley equipment.
• Operates the train and carousel during posted hours of operation, or as needed.
• Supervises the proper use of recreation equipment by residents / visitors (throwing ping pong balls, waving pool sticks, etc.).
• Explains and enforces community rules, i.e. no more than 2 guests per leaseholder in the common areas, no food or drink by the bowling machines, etc.
• Ensures that visitors and residents are signing out for borrowed equipment, such as pool balls.
• Opening and closing recreation facility as scheduled or directed.
• Assists Resident Services Manager in keeping equipment clean and orderly - perform cleaning / janitorial tasks as needed to maintain recreation facilities and bowling alley. Report any wear and tear of equipment that needs repairs or replacement.
• Maintains audio and video equipment at an appropriate level / appropriate music genre and channel.
• Vacation / time off coverage for other recreation attendants at facility as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by Resident Services Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• High School Degree, GED or equivalent required.
• 1 year customer service experience or related experience and/ or training.
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of current computer software including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Additional training for operation of bowling alley equipment, train, and carousel to be provided.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk. Regularly performs computer work, and operates general office equipment (computer, phones, fax machine, copier or scanner) and does filing.
COMMUNICATIONS:
• Must be able to communicate (orally and written) in a professional manner on a regular basis with prospective residents, current residents, staff, management and co-workers within the company as well as with outside vendors. Must be able to work as part of a team. Follows instructions and responds to management's direction. Takes constructive criticism and uses it as a learning tool.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This position has no supervisory responsibility.

ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY:
• Is reliable and consistently at work and on time; willing to travel, and work evenings, weekends and holidays, as needed.
TRAVEL
• Travel may be required within the Southern California Region and Arizona.
