Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 2 years of current acute care specialty experience and Epic proficiency.

Details
  • Med/Surg Oncology Telemetry unit within a cancer hospital and research center setting
  • Patient population includes soft tissue malignancy patients receiving chemotherapy, diagnostic services, and symptom management
  • Continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration
  • Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • 12-hour rotating shifts covering days and/or nights based on department needs, reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
  • Night shift hours from 19:00 to 07:30 for straight night contracts
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
  • Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
  • Utilizes Epic charting system
Requirements
  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • Minimum 2 years of RN acute care experience required, current within the last 12 months and specific to the specialty
  • BLS certification required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Skills required include interpretation of dysrhythmias, port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, IV starts, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, high flow nasal cannula management, and ABG interpretation
  • Additional preferred skills include chemotherapy administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, PCA management, and insulin drip titration
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted
Additional Information
  • Provide oncology telemetry nursing care including chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and comorbidity management
  • Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal and manage lines including central, PICC, and arterial lines
  • Come with a willingness to learn and grow nursing practice; previous travel experience preferred but not required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • RTO must be requested and built into the contract at time of submission, limited to 7 days or less
  • Locals are accepted at the same pay rate
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel positions at any of its Ohio hospital locations
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract due to strict credentialing timelines
