Job description

HYPERBARIC OXYGEN TECH - PRN
Experience and Education
High School Graduate with two (2) years of clinical hyperbaric system operations; or EMT, Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant certificate.
Certification by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) as a Certified Hyperbaric Technologist required within one (1) year of employment.
BLS Health Care Provider Certification by American Heart Association
Job Duties
1. Receives orders and administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by physician.
2. Prepares patient for HBO treatment and accurately completes appropriate documentation and monitoring. Monitors patient safety during treatment and during any transport. Reports changes in patient behavior to appropriate clinic staff.
3. Reinforces education as it relates to hyperbaric therapy.
4. Operates and maintains the hyperbaric chambers and associated systems and equipment.
5. Maintains daily and periodic equipment maintenance documentation.
6. Cleans HBO chambers and treatment rooms using appropriate techniques.
7. Utilizes data software for wound management and makes appropriate entries into the medical record of each patient in regard to hyperbaric treatments, wound care visits, photo uploading, toleration of pressurization and depressurization of hyperbaric chamber.
8. Participates and attends safety education; maintains competencies, continuing education and certification as appropriate.
9. Compiles reports requested by physician and/or clinic manager/director. Performs care within scope of practice and participates in wound care center activities when HBOT volumes allow.
