Job description

The focus of this position is to process, analyze, and visualize qualitative and quantitative research data. This position designs and executes quantitative and qualitative data collection (e.g. in-person interviews, surveys and focus groups). The data gathered helps Vistra produce sound, timely, useful information for clients in an efficient and compelling manner. This Research Analyst I will support client analytic needs through data discovery, analysis, visualization, and solution development/implementation in operations, customer/employee experience & satisfaction, attitude, awareness & usage, health behaviors, and other types of research.
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Identifies, analyzes, visualizes, and interprets trends and patterns in complex data sets; collects, organizes, analyzes, and disseminates significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy; interprets data and analyzes survey results by utilizing statistical analysis software to enhance the quality of research findings presented to clients; performs detailed analyses on data sets such as t-tests, individual and multiple variable regressions and other specialized data queries in support of the survey team as needed.
  • Supports the design, programming, testing, and launch of paper (mailed), online or phone survey instruments for Vistra clients; manages and programs surveys on online CATI and CAWI platforms for clients as needed; creates survey codebooks for surveys for data processing team and vendor use.
  • Checks survey data for question answering logic consistency; manages data set versioning with vendors and prepares templates for data reporting for clients as needed to further enhance process flow for all data collection activities to enhance the survey team's capabilities. Processes, edits, and tracks survey responses and data collection submissions for surveys using Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, and Voxco platforms.
  • Actively takes part in/contributes to Vistra qualitative project proposal development and design and formulation of draft discussion guides for client review and feedback; contributes to qualitative fieldwork teams by serving as an in-depth interviewer and focus group discussion observer as needed. Develops code frames. Codes qualitative research artefacts using Nvivo.
  • Contributes to the conceptualization and drafting of compelling content for quantitative project reporting, including charting and display ideas; checks all final reporting with team to ensure consistency and accuracy of final reports.
  • Plays an active role assisting team members quality controlling final reports prior to delivery to clients; prepares appropriate quality control checklists and sign-off forms as needed; contributes to drafting of research vendor Statements of Work (SOWs) with an emphasis on process flows on a regular basis.
  • Supports management of Federal project tasks including client relationship management. Monitors the performance and progress of assigned Federal program with support & oversight from Manager and Federal team. Prepares and coordinates internal and external Program Management Reviews and briefs under the supervision of the Program Manager.
  • Identifies resolutions of issues impacting assigned projects. Escalates to management as needed. Keeps Program Manager informed. Coordinates budget, cost, acquisition and contract input for project costs, schedules and overall performance under guidance of the Program Manager.
  • May travel as required - Less than 10%

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience in healthcare management, clinical healthcare research, public health, social sciences, or data science. Master's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft 365, especially Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Microsoft certifications preferred.
  • Proficient in Nvivo, SPSS, R, and Python. Experience with Access, SQL and PL/SQL, or similar programming languages preferred. Nvivo certification preferred.
  • Proficient with Qualtrics, Voxco, SurveyMonkey or another major online survey engine. Qualtrics certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting qualitative and qualitative research projects or tasks. Experience with customer/employee experience, media and audience, or healthcare research preferred. Veterans Administration research projects preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with and solid knowledge of the principles associated with qualitative and quantitative research design & analysis, and report writing, and statistical testing.
  • Demonstrated outstanding written (prose and presentation) and oral communications skills, especially the ability to articulate complex, abstract statistical concepts or strategic situations and strategies to audiences with and without business industry experience at all levels of an organization. Writing sample preferred.
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CPAM) preferred.
