Pharmacy Technician Assistant Intern, Opportunity Youth

Department Overview: The Opportunity Youth Programs at Commonpoint provide services to out of school and out of work youth, ages 18-24. Opportunity Youth Programs include GED classes, Vocational Training Classes, Internship, and Employment Assistance. We serve youth who have dropped out of high school, are pregnant or parenting, receiving foster care services, are engaged with the juvenile justice system, experiencing homelessness, had an IEP in high school, reside in high poverty areas, or who are unemployed.

Position Summary: The Pharmacy Technician Assistant supports pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing safe, efficient, and accurate pharmaceutical services. This role involves assisting with medication preparation, inventory management, customer service, and maintaining compliance with all pharmacy policies and regulatory standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist pharmacy staff in filling prescriptions by preparing, labeling, and organizing medications under supervision.

  • Maintain accurate inventory by restocking shelves, checking expiration dates, and assisting with ordering supplies.

  • Retrieve, file, and organize patient records and prescription documentation.

  • Answer phones, greet customers, and provide courteous assistance with general inquiries.

  • Support pharmacists and technicians in ensuring compliance with HIPAA and pharmacy regulations.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy workspace.

  • Assist with processing insurance claims and verifying patient information as directed.

  • Perform other administrative or operational tasks as assigned by supervising staff.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

No High School Diploma required.

SPECIFICATIONS FOR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Schedule: 15-20 hours per week.
