Job description

THE POSITION Are you looking for an exciting role where your work will support both emergency and wildlife management in the commonwealth. The Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) is looking to hire several Dispatchers to work in our fast paced 24 hour Dispatch Center in Harrisburg. If you excel at communicating clearly and effectively in any situation and are looking for a challenging and rewarding career, then the Pennsylvania Game Commission would like to talk to you.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will perform public service dispatching work receiving, dispatching, and coordinating information and processes in the PGC Regional Office. Your responsibilities will include processing both emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, PGC Personnel, or other emergency and non-emergency services. Accurately obtaining relevant information and effectively relating to or communicating to multiple units, agencies and jurisdictions is essential.

Our team will rely on you to provide quick and accurate information to callers about wildlife related situations and recognize situations that require immediate response by a field officer or input from a supervisor. In addition, you can expect to perform a variety of general support duties related to communication activities, including record keeping, typing, and filing. Interested in learning more.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Temporary, Full-time employment, 40 hours per week This position works four ten-hour days per week with no lunch period. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of dispatch operations experience, two-way radio operation experience, or complex clerical experience. Possession of a valid Public Safety Telecommunicator certificate issued by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials may be substituted for six months of the required experience. Possession of a valid Pennsylvania hunting license may be substituted for three months of the required experience.

Special Requirement: Possession of a clear, firm voice and no major speech, hearing, or visual impairments that would interfere with understanding verbal communication, being understood, or using electronic communications equipment and visual display equipment. Post Employment Requirement: Must be able to obtain CLEAN and JNET certification within the probationary period and maintain these certifications for the duration of employment in this job. Additional Requirement: You must be able to perform essential job functions.
