Job description

We are driven to do more. More for our customers and the financial professionals who offer our products. If you are driven to do more and love the challenge of pursuing more, Athene is your kind of company. You will find we offer more than the basics to create an inclusive and dynamic work environment at our various locations.

Purpose:

The Pension Group Annuity (PGA) team is a key driver of Athene's growth, origination, structuring and executing pension risk transfer (PRT) transactions and related balance sheet solutions for institutional clients. Closely aligned with Athene's Corporate Development team, the PGA team leverages Apollo's differentiated investment platform to deliver innovative, large-scale solutions across a rapidly evolving global retirement market.
The Director, PGA- Transaction Management, will play a critical role in executing complex PRT transactions, managing day-to-day transaction execution and owning key workstreams across the deal lifecycle from initial engagement through close. This role operates at the intersection of actuarial, legal, asset management, and operations, requiring strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to drive cross functional coordination in a fast-paced, transaction-oriented environment.
This is a high-impact opportunity with direct exposure to senior leadership and participation in some of Athene's most strategic and visible transactions, as well as broader Corporate Development initiatives.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead execution of PRT transactions from initial engagement through insurer selection and onboarding, coordinating key workstreams across the transaction lifecycle
  • Manage and coordinate RFP processes, ensuring delivery of high-quality proposals through effective collaboration with actuarial, legal, asset management, and operations teams
  • Partner with intermediaries, fiduciaries, and clients, supporting due diligence efforts and participating in client and fiduciary meetings to drive successful transaction outcomes
  • Drive cross-functional coordination to support efficient onboarding and execution through transaction close and post-close activities
  • Develop and refine transaction analyses, presentations and client-facing materials ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with transaction objectives
  • Partner with senior team members across all stages of transactions, including target identification, bidding, contract negotiation, closing, and post-close execution
  • Apply knowledge of actuarial concepts, regulatory considerations, and pension market dynamics, and insurance industry trends to support transaction evaluation and execution
  • Contribute to broader PGA strategic initiatives, including product development, process improvements, market research, and the use of data and AI-enabled tools to enhance scalability and efficiency
  • Participate in select Corporate Development projects and other strategic initiatives tied to Athene's broader retirement and balance sheet solutions business

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in pension risk transfer, insurance, investment banking, consulting, or other transaction-oriented roles
  • Experience managing complex transactions or workstreams, with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and clients
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence outcomes without direct authority, while operating with a strong bias for action in ambiguous environments
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or related field: ASA/FSA, CFA, CPA or similar credential preferred
  • Experience with data tools or AI-enabled workflows is a plus

$176,448.00 - $264,672.00 USD Annual

Annual Salary for this role is market competitive. Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Depending on the role, a discretionary bonus plan or variable sales incentive may be included.
