These internships provide hands-on experience in various aspects of the golf industry, such as event management, golf operations, marketing, and instruction. PGA interns gain valuable insights into the business and operational side of golf, which can help them pursue careers in golf management, coaching, or other related fields.

What types of projects and responsibilities can a PGA intern expect during their internship?

As a PGA Intern, you can expect to be involved in a variety of projects that support the daily operations of a golf facility or association. Typical responsibilities may include assisting with tournament organization, supporting member services, helping with marketing or social media tasks, and providing customer service to guests and players. Interns often work closely with PGA professionals, gaining hands-on experience in both the business and instructional sides of golf management. This collaborative environment not only helps you develop practical skills but also offers valuable networking opportunities within the golf industry.

To thrive as a PGA Intern, you generally need a background in golf management, business, or hospitality, often supported by enrollment in a PGA-accredited program. Familiarity with golf course operations software, tournament management systems, and basic Microsoft Office tools is beneficial. Strong interpersonal skills, customer service orientation, and a proactive attitude set exceptional interns apart. These skills and qualities are crucial for delivering excellent member experiences and efficiently supporting golf operations in a professional environment.

How to become a PGA Intern?

To become a PGA Intern, candidates typically need to be enrolled in or have completed a PGA Professional Golf Management (PGM) program and obtain a PGA membership. They must also complete a series of internships, pass background checks, and demonstrate knowledge of golf operations, teaching, and club management. Certification and ongoing education are part of the pathway to becoming a PGA Professional.
