What are perinatal services?

Perinatal services are specialized healthcare services provided to women and their babies during the period shortly before, during, and after childbirth—typically from the 20th to 28th week of pregnancy up to one month after birth. These services include prenatal care, labor and delivery support, postpartum care, and newborn health services. The goal of perinatal services is to ensure the health and well-being of both the mother and baby by preventing complications, managing risk factors, and providing education and support.
