Performance Optimization Manager information

What does a performance optimization manager do?

A Performance Optimization Manager is responsible for analyzing business processes and systems to identify areas where efficiency, productivity, and overall performance can be improved. They develop and implement strategies, use data-driven insights, and collaborate with various departments to streamline operations. Their goal is to maximize the organization's effectiveness, reduce costs, and enhance results, often through process redesign, technology integration, and ongoing performance monitoring.

How does a performance optimization manager typically collaborate with other departments to drive improvements?

Performance Optimization Managers often work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, product development, and IT. They gather data from various sources, analyze performance metrics, and facilitate workshops or meetings to identify bottlenecks and propose actionable solutions. Effective collaboration requires strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear recommendations that align with organizational goals. This collaborative approach ensures that optimization strategies are practical, well-supported, and have a measurable impact across the business.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a performance optimization manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Performance Optimization Manager, you need strong analytical skills, a background in business or data analysis, and experience in process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma. Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), performance management systems, and relevant certifications in project management or process optimization are typically required. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities help drive change and encourage collaboration across teams. These skills are crucial for identifying inefficiencies, implementing effective solutions, and ensuring sustained business growth.

This starts with a workplace that empowers people to do their best work. Come build a rewarding career and make a meaningful impact on people's lives in an environment that values your determination. Join our diverse, inclusive team and get ready to crush your goals!

Job Description

We are looking for a data-driven Senior Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) Specialist to own the testing, optimization, and user experience frameworks across our digital properties and landing pages.

In the competitive Medicare brokerage space, every click counts. Your core mission will be to turn our web traffic into qualified leads-balancing digital form completions, online quote requests, and inbound phone calls. The ideal candidate understands that a landing page is a bridge between acquisition and retention. You will design experiences that align perfectly with Paid Media intent, maintain SEO best practices, and set the stage for long-term Customer Retention.

Reporting directly to the Sr. Director, Engagement Marketing, you will build and scale an experimentation roadmap that directly drives down Cost Per Acquisition (CPA) and maximizes lead volume, particularly as we scale up for peak seasons like the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP). Rather than working in a vacuum, you will act as the strategic driver-partnering with our in-house paid media, SEO, UX design, and development teams to deploy high-impact digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the Experimentation Roadmap: Lead the end-to-end optimization strategy, from forming data-backed hypotheses to prioritization, variant asset definition, and post-test analysis.
  • Ad-to-Page Alignment: Partner closely with the Paid Media team to optimize landing pages for ad relevance, message match, and Google Ads/Meta Quality Score improvements.
  • SEO Harmony: Ensure all conversion-focused landing pages maintain organic search best practices, protecting keyword rankings, metadata, and site structure.
  • Execute A/B & Multivariate Testing: Use enterprise testing suites (such as Optimizely or VWO) to design, configure, and execute split tests on our web funnels, ensuring rigorous QA and statistical validity.
  • WordPress Landing Page Management: Navigate and make minor content, copy, or logic iterations on landing pages within WordPress using the Breakdance Builder. Partner closely with our Web Developers, who will handle core development, advanced technical implementations, and tracking script integrations.
  • Analyze User Behavior & Funnels: Leverage GA4 (Google Analytics 4) and user behavior tools (Hotjar) to deeply understand user drop-offs, form friction, and navigate complex paths to conversion. Acting as the internal expert, you will map custom events and triggers to validate test metrics cleanly.
  • Drive Multi-Channel Conversions: Optimize distinct user pathways, focusing heavily on generating high-intent form fills, digital quote engine completions, digital enrollments, and click-to-call telephone actions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Paid Media, SEO, UX/UI Designers, and Web Developers to turn creative test concepts into seamless digital experiences.
  • Build the ROI Data Story: Translate complex test metrics into clear, actionable business insights. Build performance dashboards to regularly report conversion lifts and acquisition cost savings to marketing leadership.
  • Leverage AI as a Performance Multiplier: Proactively utilize generative AI tools to rapidly brainstorm high-converting copy variations, accelerate landing page wireframing, and analyze complex qualitative user feedback trends at scale.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 4+ years of dedicated experience in CRO, web optimization, or growth marketing with a proven track record of moving conversion needles and managing testing roadmaps.
  • Acquisition Knowledge: A strong baseline understanding of paid acquisition channels (Meta Ads, Google Ads) and an acute awareness of how user intent shifts based on the traffic source.
  • SEO Fundamentals: Familiarity with on-page SEO principles, including proper header tags, content hierarchy, and the delicate balance between copy length and conversion-focused layouts.
  • WordPress Literacy: Baseline understanding of navigating and reviewing landing pages inside WordPress using a modern block/visual framework-ideally Breakdance Builder (or similar tools). An awareness of how tracking scripts and element styling impact PageSpeed scores.
  • Analytics Toolkit: Expert-level knowledge of GA4 and Google Tag Manager (GTM). Ability to set up custom events and triggers to validate test metrics cleanly.
  • Testing Infrastructure: Deep hands-on experience using enterprise testing suites (preferably Optimizely, though VWO or other platforms are acceptable).
  • Technical Familiarity: Baseline understanding of user experience (UX) principles. A basic understanding of HTML/CSS to effectively collaborate with our developers or make minor style adjustments is a huge plus.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in lead-generation environments (Healthcare, Insurance, FinTech, or highly regulated spaces) is strongly preferred.
  • AI-Curious Mindset: An AI-native marketer who views emerging technology as an essential efficiency driver. You know how to prompt effectively to generate persuasive, compliant messaging variants and use AI tools to find operational shortcuts in the testing lifecycle without sacrificing human strategy.

  • 401k matching program
  • Generous paid time off program with an additional company break during the holidays
