What is a performance manager?

A performance manager seeks to create a system in which employees can perform at their best by creating clear goals and expectations. Rather than a traditional corporate system of employee appraisal and evaluation, performance managers try to communicate end goals and align each employee’s work with these aims. In this role, you may seek the development of benchmarks so that the company’s departments or groups can measure their progress concretely. This is an ongoing effort. Benchmarks and goals must change, so you must continually find new ways to measure progress and to inspire effort.

How does a performance manager typically collaborate with other departments to drive organizational success?

Performance Managers work closely with leaders and teams across departments—such as HR, operations, and finance—to align performance metrics with organizational goals. They often facilitate regular meetings to review progress, provide feedback, and identify areas for improvement. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to translate data insights into actionable strategies that support both team development and business objectives. Effective collaboration ensures that performance initiatives are integrated and sustained throughout the organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a performance manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Performance Manager, you need a strong background in analytics, goal-setting frameworks, and organizational development, often supported by a degree in business or human resources. Familiarity with performance management systems, HR analytics tools, and project management software is typically required. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities set standout candidates apart in this role. These skills and qualities are crucial for driving employee productivity, aligning team objectives with organizational goals, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Job description

PERSONAL TRAINING & PERFORMANCE MANAGER - RUMBLE BOXING YORKVILLE

Full-time leadership role | Yorkville, Toronto | $55,000 base plus performance incentives

Built Different. Trained Different.

Own and grow Personal Training and Boot Camp at Rumble Yorkville. Lead the coaching team, drive sales, develop trainers, and build a premium performance business inside one of Toronto's most exciting boutique fitness studios.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a trainer who thinks like an operator-or a fitness sales leader who genuinely understands coaching. You will manage the business, develop the team, maintain a selective client roster, and work directly with studio leadership to turn growth opportunities into results.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Personal Training & Performance Manager is the business and people leader for Personal Training and Boot Camp at Rumble Yorkville.

You will turn member interest into consultations, consultations into long-term coaching relationships, and talented trainers into a consistent, accountable team. You will have meaningful ownership of the department, direct access to studio leadership, and a path toward broader management responsibility as the business grows.

This is not a desk-only management role, but it is also not a full personal-training schedule with management added on top. You will maintain a manageable client roster so you stay close to the product while spending the majority of your time developing the team and growing the department.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Grow Personal Training & Boot Camp

Build and manage the sales pipeline from lead generation and consultation through onboarding, renewal, and retention.

Conduct fitness consultations, assessments, studio tours, and follow-up conversations that connect each member with the right coaching solution.

Drive monthly PT and Boot Camp revenue, conversion, recurring participation, renewals, and retention.

Create clear pathways between boxing classes, boot camps, assessments, and personal training.

Develop referral activity, workshops, member touchpoints, and in-studio campaigns that generate qualified opportunities.

Lead & Develop the Coaching Team

Recruit, onboard, schedule, mentor, and performance-manage Personal Trainers and Boot Camp coaches.

Lead weekly team meetings and individual coaching conversations focused on sales activity, client service, programming quality, and professional growth.

Observe sessions and provide clear, constructive feedback on coaching, communication, energy, safety, and client progression.

Coach trainers to confidently communicate value, recommend programs, handle objections, and build sustainable books of business.

Create a culture of accountability where coaches understand their goals, know how they are performing, and receive the support to improve.

Own the Boot Camp Product

Lead the Boot Camp schedule, programming standards, coach coverage, capacity, and quality control.

Ensure every session delivers consistent coaching, energy, progression, and a premium member experience.

Improve trials, attendance, conversion, recurring participation, retention, and revenue.

Develop Boot Camp as both a strong standalone business and a pathway into personal training and the broader Rumble experience.

Deliver Client Results

Ensure every PT client receives a professional assessment, clear goals, an appropriate program, and regular progress reviews.

Match clients with the right trainer and intervene early when attendance, engagement, or results decline.

Maintain a selective personal-training roster and lead by example in sales, service, programming, and follow-through.

Build a culture where long-term client results matter as much as the initial sale.

Run the Business

Maintain a simple weekly scorecard for PT and Boot Camp, including leads, consultations, conversion, active clients, attendance, trainer productivity, retention, and revenue.

Review the pipeline with the team, identify gaps early, and turn targets into clear weekly actions.

Use performance data and client feedback to improve sales, coaching quality, scheduling, and the member experience.

Partner with the Studio Manager and Front of House team to create one connected member journey and support studio operations during key periods.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

In your first 30 days, you understand the Yorkville member journey, current sales pipelines, trainer strengths, and operating rhythms.

Within 60 days, the team is working from consistent consultation, follow-up, programming, and accountability standards.

Within 90 days, PT and Boot Camp have stronger sales pipelines, improving conversion and retention, more productive trainers, and a clear plan for sustainable monthly growth.

WHAT YOU BRING

3+ years of experience in personal training, fitness sales, boutique fitness, or club operations.

Experience mentoring trainers, leading coaches, or managing a performance-based team.

A recognized Personal Training certification and current CPR/AED or First Aid certification.

A demonstrated ability to sell coaching or membership solutions and achieve revenue or retention goals.

Confidence using goals, pipeline tracking, schedules, and performance conversations to create accountability.

Strong coaching judgment, clear communication, organization, and follow-through.

Availability for a full-time studio schedule that includes some early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Experience with boxing, strength and conditioning, athletic performance, nutrition coaching, or premium hospitality is an asset. You do not need to match every preferred qualification to apply.

WHO THRIVES HERE

You get energy from developing people and building a business. You are competitive without being transactional, direct without losing empathy, and organized enough to turn goals into action. You want more than a full client schedule-you want the opportunity to lead a team and shape a growing performance business.

WHY RUMBLE

You will have real ownership of two growing business lines, direct partnership with studio leadership, and the opportunity to influence Rumble Yorkville's coaching systems, standards, and culture.

This role offers a clear path toward senior studio or broader performance leadership for someone who can consistently develop people and produce results.

COMPENSATION

$55,000 per year base salary, plus performance incentives tied to Personal Training and Boot Camp revenue, conversion, attendance, retention, and team-development results.

If you are ready to lead a high-performing coaching team and grow meaningful Personal Training and Boot Camp businesses, we want to meet you.
