What is a performance manager?
A performance manager seeks to create a system in which employees can perform at their best by creating clear goals and expectations. Rather than a traditional corporate system of employee appraisal and evaluation, performance managers try to communicate end goals and align each employee’s work with these aims. In this role, you may seek the development of benchmarks so that the company’s departments or groups can measure their progress concretely. This is an ongoing effort. Benchmarks and goals must change, so you must continually find new ways to measure progress and to inspire effort.

- Establishes governance frameworks that ensure PTA processes are standardized, documented, measurable, controlled, accessible, and continuously improved.
- Owns the inventory and governance of PTA Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, process maps, and operational reference materials, ensuring documentation remains current, consistent, accessible, and audit-ready.
- Establishes and maintains PTA knowledge-management standards that support documentation discipline, knowledge transfer, process consistency, and organizational continuity.
- Leads business process analysis, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance effectiveness, efficiency, scalability, compliance, knowledge transfer, and customer service across PTA.
- Leads the PTA internal audit, quality review, and process compliance functions, coordinating corrective actions and supporting IOSA, (Federal Aviation Administration) FAA, Advanced Qualification Program (AQP), and other audit-readiness activities.
- Coordinates PTA participation in the Safety Management System, facilitates Safety Risk Assessments, tracks risk mitigation actions, and partners with Safety stakeholders to support organizational risk management.
- Maintains project and initiative governance processes, providing leadership visibility into project status, milestones, risks, dependencies, corrective actions, and organizational priorities.
- Oversees development of analytical models, forecasts, dashboards, survey programs, and decision-support tools that improve planning, resource allocation, performance management, and operational decision-making.
- Leads and develops a team of business analysis, data analytics, and performance professionals, establishing priorities, performance expectations, coaching plans, and development opportunities.
- Partners with leaders across Scheduling, Records & Qualifications, AQP, Training Operations, Flight Training, Safety, Finance, Information Technology, and other stakeholder groups to improve organizational performance and achieve business objectives.
