Job description

Summary Job Summary The Quality Associate Administrator is responsible for the strategic deployment of performance excellence that includes patient safety and quality principles with a focus on improving patient outcomes, reducing risks, eliminating errors, implementing best practices and national initiatives, monitoring compliance, and leading organizational change. Provides executive leadership to ensure that patients receive safe, reliable and evidence-based care. Supports efforts to assure a safe environment for caregivers to deliver the safest and highest quality care. Works in a dyad relationship with the District Chief Medical Officer to align hospital district clinical performance improvement goals and create processes and relationships that enable collaboration and define accountability for consistent standards wherever patient care is delivered. Acts as a leader in change management, is a strong, positive advocate for cultural change and directs the activity of others. Partners with nursing and other clinical leaders, as well as administrative support staff that engage in safety and quality oversight and improvement efforts throughout the system. Work closely with Chief Medical Officers, Chief Nursing Officers, Medical Directors, Medical Staff leaders, Chief Operating Officers and other senior leaders across the hospital district. Committed to Performance Excellence to support the vision and mission of the organization to Heal, Serve and Educate. Performance Excellence includes a deep commitment to continual improvement to achieve role-model clinical, operational and patient experience best practices and is based on the Malcolm Baldrige framework for Performance Excellence. Minimum Job Requirements Work Experience Two years in a hospital leadership role and completion of the American College of Healthcare Executives Executive Program required. OR Seven years of management experience in a healthcare environment, with a strong background and understanding of patient care and process improvement processes. License/Registration/Certification If an RN or MD/DO, a current unrestricted license to practice in the State of Texas is required. Education and Training A master’s degree in a healthcare-related field is required. If an RN, a master’s degree is required from an accredited nursing school. If an MD/DO, graduate from an accredited medical school is required. If a physician, completion of an accredited Residency program is required. Completion of the Healthcare Improvement’s (IHI’s) Chief Quality Officer Professional Development Program or Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety (TeamSTEPPS) curriculum is required within one year of being in the position. Ability to negotiate and mediate, bringing together diverse perspectives with beneficial outcomes. Advanced knowledge of factors affecting delivery of patient care services and ability to lead the development and implementation of organizational changes to address strategic initiatives and opportunities to improve patient care and nursing practice. Strong analytical, numerical and reasoning abilities. Ability to lead with demonstrated success in engendering trust, confidence, and commitment of medical staff. Ability to plan and carry out projects or change initiatives of significant magnitude. Proven understanding and application of strategies of nursing management. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to promote teamwork, cooperation, and commitment to mutual goals. Proven ability to negotiate and mediate, bringing together diverse perspectives with beneficial outcomes. Advanced knowledge of factors affecting delivery of patient care services and ability to lead the development and implementation of organizational changes to address strategic initiatives and opportunities to improve patient care and nursing practice. Strong analytical, numerical and reasoning abilities. Proven leadership ability, with demonstrated success in engendering trust, confidence, and commitment from medical staff. Demonstrated ability to plan and carry out projects or change initiatives of significant magnitude. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions. Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish) preferred.
