What is a Performance Attribution Analyst?

A Performance Attribution Analyst is a finance professional who analyzes and explains the sources of returns in investment portfolios. They break down portfolio performance to determine how much each investment decision, such as asset allocation or security selection, contributed to overall returns. This helps investment managers and clients understand what is driving performance and identify areas for improvement. The role typically involves working with complex data, financial models, and specialized software to produce detailed reports and insights.
