What is a Per Diem Weekend RN?

A Per Diem Weekend RN is a registered nurse who works on an as-needed basis, typically covering weekend shifts. Unlike full-time or part-time staff, per diem nurses do not have a set schedule and may work varying hours depending on the healthcare facility's needs. This position offers flexibility and often includes higher hourly pay to compensate for the lack of benefits and irregular hours. Per diem weekend RNs are essential for filling staffing gaps, especially during busy or understaffed periods. They must meet the same licensing and credential requirements as regular RNs.
