Baystate Health is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse to join our Perioperative Services team at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer, Massachusetts. Our Perioperative Services team provides comprehensive surgical care for patients undergoing operative and procedural interventions, working closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing colleagues, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
The Per Diem Registered Nurse role offers the opportunity to provide skilled clinical care in a fast-paced surgical environment while supporting patients and families throughout their perioperative experience.
Wing Hospital is a beautifully renovated 74-bed community hospital serving the Palmer, MA region. As part of Baystate Health, Wing combines advanced technology, high-quality patient care, and meaningful nursing careers while maintaining a close-knit, community-focused environment.
The Per Diem Registered Nurse Will:
  • Provide direct patient care in accordance with the Professional Practice Model, MA Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards of Practice, and Baystate Health values.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely while maintaining standards of nursing practice.
  • Recognize changes in patient condition and intervene appropriately to promote optimal outcomes and patient safety.
  • Educate patients and families throughout the perioperative experience and support discharge planning needs.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate effective patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, shared governance activities, and departmental performance improvement efforts.
  • Maintain clinical competency, regulatory compliance, and ongoing professional development through required education and annual competencies.

Required Skills
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • One or more years of nursing experience required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe, age-appropriate, patient-centered care.
  • Any exception to experience requirements must be approved by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

  • Previous experience in Perioperative Services, Surgical Services, Operating Room, PACU, or procedural care settings.

No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
