Job description

Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, an EEG Specialist is a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our patient population.    Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence. 

Duties of a EEG Specialist  may include the following but are not limited to:

  • Perform a wide range of electroencephalograms including routine, portable and continuous EEG.
  • Perform long term video EEG monitoring.  Includes setup of patient, review and editing of  EEG data and related duties.
  • Perform other electro-neurodiagnostic examinations.
  • Maintain and inventory laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Help maintain laboratory and patient records including departmental databases.
  • Archive patient data to DVD or other media
  • Assist in the guidance of the technologist's continuing education. To include directed releasing and online training.
  • Work with medical staff and Technologist's to acquire and improve EMG/NCV and/or EP skills.
  • In addition, this position requires an understanding of all components of the recording of the EEG for seizure surgery patients. This includes an understanding of grid and depth electrodes with appropriate montage design. Assisting in data analysis is also required. 

Qualifications 

Required:  High School Diploma or GED. 1 year or more performing EEG's. Graduation from an EEG training program, completion or acceptable EEG module or minimum 5 years of clinical experience as EEG Tech., including pediatric and neonate experience.

Preferred: Academic and/or clinical experience in EEG as well as EMG/NCV and/or Evoked Potentials Experience with epilepsy monitoring equipment and unit. Registration of the American Board of EEG and EP Technologists (ABRET). R.EEG T credential.

  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $34/hr - $41/hr 

The above salary range represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.  The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate's validated years of comparable experience.  Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.
