Job description

Cohen & Cohen Personal Injury Lawyers, P.C. is a results-driven plaintiff personal injury firm in Forest Hills, Queens, established in 2005. We’re seeking driven and ambitious attorneys with at least 5 years of plaintiff-side personal injury experience to join a high-performing team focused on maximizing client outcomes through strategic, expert-backed litigation.

Walk into a full caseload on day one. Our intake engine keeps your pipeline full — no rainmaking required. Just litigate, negotiate, and earn. First-year earning potential of $250,000–$300,000+.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Significant earning potential — Profit-sharing on every settlement in your caseload, plus one-third of the attorney’s fee on any case you originate. Uncapped.
  • Learn from top-tier trial methodology — Develop advanced litigation strategies rooted in the Keenan “Edge” approach, including focus group testing, case framing, and damages development. You’ll gain hands-on experience building and asserting high-value claims, including the strategic development and proof of punitive damages where applicable.
  • Structured development — You’ll receive full exposure to trial strategy and preparation, but pursuing trial work is optional. Whether your strength is litigation, negotiation, or trial, the role supports your preferred path.
  • Direct mentorship from the Managing Partner — Work directly with a trial attorney with 20+ years of plaintiff PI experience. No middle management, no committee approvals.
  • Robust litigation support — Dedicated paralegals and legal assistants per attorney, plus retained relationships with top-tier experts including life care planners, forensic economists, accident reconstructionists, and biomechanical engineers.
  • Technology-forward practice — Filevine case management, AI-assisted workflows, and data-driven case analytics let you focus on litigation, not administration.
  • Clear career progression — Defined growth from case handling to advanced litigation and trial strategy, with ongoing professional development and increasing earning opportunities.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage a full personal injury caseload (100–120 cases across pre-suit and litigation phases) from intake through resolution
  • Handle all phases of litigation including depositions, motions, hearings, mediations, negotiations, and trial preparation
  • Develop and execute litigation strategy to maximize case value on every file
  • Conduct and defend depositions across NYC-area courts
  • Draft and argue motions in New York Supreme Court (Queens, Bronx, Kings, NY County, Nassau)
  • Negotiate settlements with insurance carriers and opposing counsel
  • Coordinate with retained experts to build high-impact damages presentations
  • Maintain accurate case records in Filevine
  • Participate in Keenan Edge methodology training and focus group testing
  • Provide consistent and proactive client communication
  • Caseload includes auto, premises, construction (Labor Law §240/241), and trip-and-fall matters

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor and active New York State Bar admission
  • Minimum 5 years of plaintiff-side personal injury litigation experience
  • Strong experience with motion practice and courtroom appearances
  • Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload
  • Excellent written, oral, and negotiation abilities
  • A results-oriented mindset with a focus on maximizing case value
  • Comfort in a direct, fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trial or jury selection experience
  • Labor Law §240/241, premises, or construction accident experience
  • Medical malpractice or nursing home experience
  • NJ, EDNY, or SDNY admission
  • Spanish or Russian fluency
  • Filevine or comparable case management platform experience
  • Experience with average case value of $100K+

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $175,000–$225,000 (commensurate with experience)
  • Commission on settlements from your caseload — paid monthly based on collected legal fees
  • One-third attorney’s fee on cases you originate
  • Total first-year earning potential: $250,000–$300,000+
  • Medical insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • CLE reimbursement and bar dues covered
  • Free on-site parking in Forest Hills (steps from E/F/M/R)
  • Dedicated paralegal and legal assistant support
