Job description

Overview

The North America Public Policy & Government Affairs (NA PPGA) Communications Manager will play a key role on a high-visibility cross-functional team, responsible for supporting the design and implementation of PepsiCo’s North America PPGA Communications strategy and the execution of governmental and external communications, as well as partnering with the pep+ Communications teams.The Manager will serve as a communications counselor and advisor for the PPGA function, primarily the SVP, Government Affairs who oversees PPGA in North America. Their responsibilities will center around strengthening corporate reputation by elevating the world-class innovation, sustainability and economic benefits taking place throughout PepsiCo to key opinion leaders and stakeholders.


Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Affairs Communications, the North America PPGA Communications Manager will:

  • Serve as a Communications Business Partner to the North American PPGA Function and the SVP, PPGA.
  • Serve as a Communications Business Partner to North America PPGA stakeholders, providing counsel on messaging, narrative development, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support development of newsletters for PPGA communications to key policymakers that tell the PepsiCo story and important internal changes or developments that resonate with policymakers.
  • Support the development and execution of North America PPGA external communications strategies, ensuring alignment with business priorities, policy timelines, and reputational risk.
  • Translate complex policy, regulatory, and societal issues into accessible, highimpact narratives that resonate with policymakers, regulators, NGOs, employees, and other key opinion leaders.
  • Support development of communications materials including talking points, fact sheets, briefing documents, opeds, digital and social copy, newsletters, and campaign toolkits.
  • Support proactive and reactive issue communications, working closely with Media Relations and Issues Centers of Excellence to manage emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Work with the PPGA team on executive communications support for North America PPGA leaders, including briefing materials, message development, and preparation for external engagements.
  • Coordinate closely with PPGA team and crossfunctional partners including Legal, Sustainability, Science & Regulatory Affairs, Foundation, and Global Communications to ensure message consistency and strategic alignment.
  • Help design and activate integrated, multichannel campaigns around priority issues, moving beyond reactive moments to sustained reputationbuilding efforts.
  • Monitor the external policy and reputational landscape, synthesizing insights and implications for internal stakeholders.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $110,700 - $185,250.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 12% of annual salary paid out annually.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

  • 5-7 years of experience in public affairs, communications, and/or public relations, particularly in governmental or policy settings.

  • Ability to think and act independently, using sound judgment, in an often ambiguous and dynamic environment.
  • Strong decision-making and resourceful, problem-solving skills.
  • Executive presence and comfort around senior executives.
  • Culturally and politically astute. Great judgment, empathy, perception and ability to ascertain a situation quickly and effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, particularly under tight deadlines and through the lens of general public, employees, stakeholders and KOLs.
  • An awareness of the challenges facing global food and beverage companies through the lens of public policy and government affairs and how that extends to other functions on the team (Sustainability, R&D, Social Impact & Foundation) as well as to the whole of PepsiCo.
