A pediatric hospitalist is a pediatrician who works with children who have to visit or stay in a hospital. In this career, your duties include diagnosing and treating children in an emergency department, pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), or neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Depending on your responsibilities within the hospital, you may be present for the labor and delivery of a baby or provide care to a newborn nursery. You may also work with other physicians to treat young patients and provide expertise for doctors working on pediatric cases.
