Job description

Description

Join a Growing Finance Team

We are seeking an Accounting & Payroll Professional to join our Finance team as we continue to grow. This position offers a unique opportunity to work across all aspects of accounting and payroll while helping build a stronger, more scalable finance organization.

This is not simply a payroll position or a traditional staff accountant role. We are looking for someone who wants to become a trusted member of the Finance team by learning every critical accounting and payroll process within the organization.

The successful candidate will work closely with the CFO and senior accounting staff, become fully cross-trained in all core finance functions, and play an important role in strengthening business continuity, improving processes, and supporting the continued growth of the company.

What You'll Do

Accounting

  • Participate in the monthly and annual financial close process.
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Maintain the general ledger and supporting schedules.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Process and oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and special projects.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.

Payroll

  • Learn and support all aspects of our weekly payroll process.
  • Ensure employee hours, commissions, bonuses, and other compensation are accurate and processed on time.
  • Review payroll reports, investigate discrepancies, and assist in resolving issues.
  • Support payroll reporting and year-end payroll activities.
  • Work closely with Finance, HR, and Operations to continuously improve payroll accuracy and efficiency.

Finance Operations

  • Become fully cross-trained in all critical accounting and payroll functions.
  • Serve as backup for essential finance processes to ensure business continuity.
  • Document recurring finance procedures and assist in developing standard operating procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with leadership on reporting, analysis, and operational improvements.
  • Assist with special projects and other finance initiatives as assigned.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who learns quickly, enjoys solving problems, takes ownership, and simply "gets it."

This isn't a role for someone who only wants to complete assigned tasks. We're looking for a proactive team member who identifies issues before they become problems, asks thoughtful questions, and looks for ways to improve processes rather than simply follow them.

The ideal candidate is naturally curious, resourceful, and enjoys figuring things out. They know when to ask for help, but they're also comfortable researching, learning, and finding answers independently. We value sound judgment, initiative, integrity, and a continuous desire to grow more than experience with any particular software package.

Our business moves quickly. Priorities shift, new clients launch, and processes evolve as we continue to grow. No two weeks look exactly alike. Success in this role requires someone who enjoys variety, adapts well to change, stays organized under competing priorities, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

We've had great success developing talented people throughout their careers. We can teach systems and processes. We're looking for someone with strong accounting fundamentals, good judgment, and the aptitude to become a trusted partner within the Finance team by developing broad expertise across accounting and payroll.

Why Join Us

You'll become part of a growing company where Finance plays an important strategic role. You'll work directly with experienced financial leadership, gain exposure to every aspect of accounting and payroll, and have the opportunity to build broad financial expertise while helping strengthen a high-performing Finance organization.

Our goal is simple: build a Finance team where knowledge is shared, people support one another, processes are continuously improved, and critical responsibilities are never dependent on a single individual.
