Job description

Grow With Us

We're looking for a Senior Solutions Engineer to serve as the technical bridge between our platform and our customers. You'll design and build the custom integrations that connect Workstream to the payroll, scheduling, and back-office systems our customers already run - CrunchTime, NetChef, ADP, Paychex, UKG Pro, Teamworx, and more - and you'll be the person customers talk to while you do it.

This is a builder's seat with real customer exposure. You will own integration projects end to end: sitting in discovery calls to pull out what a customer actually needs, writing the code, and shipping it to production. You'll carry five to six concurrent projects, work directly with enterprise accounts, and have a direct hand in retention and satisfaction for our largest customers.

You're a developer who likes talking to people. You can explain a data-mapping problem to a franchise operations lead without making them feel lost, and you'd rather automate a recurring request away than answer it a tenth time.

This is a full-time, hybrid role based in our Lehi, Utah office, with 3 days a week in-office and 2 days remote to support close cross-functional collaboration.

What You'll Own
  • Integration Development (40%). Build and deploy API integrations between Workstream and customer systems. Create CSV export solutions for data migration. Develop two-way payroll integration implementations.
  • Customer Interaction (30%). Run customer meetings to gather technical requirements. Provide ongoing technical support for integration-related inquiries. Translate business requirements into technical specifications, and keep customers informed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Production Integration Optimization (20%). Migrate completed integrations to production. Optimize integrations toward self-service implementation so they scale beyond one-off builds. Document technical processes and solutions.
  • Custom Solution Creation (10%). Develop custom career sites for customers. Build custom tools and reporting solutions for enterprise accounts, and internal tooling for our Customer Success team.
Day In The Life
  • Join a discovery call with an enterprise customer's IT team to scope a new-hire sync between Workstream and their payroll provider, and leave with a clear technical spec.
  • Debug a failing data sync, ship the fix, and write the runbook so Support can resolve it without you next time.
  • Pair with another engineer on the team to review an integration build and pressure-test the approach before it goes to production.
  • Turn a request you've now handled three times into a configurable, self-serve option.
  • Flag a recurring pattern in integration requests to Product as evidence for a platform-level fix.
Who You Are
  • Technically deep and broad. Proficient in full stack development with hands-on experience in AI Coding and Python. Comfortable with REST APIs, data transformation, and workflow automation platforms like Workato.
  • Genuinely good with customers. A strong track record in customer-facing technical roles, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • A capable project manager. You can run 5-6 concurrent integration projects of varying complexity, with varying deadlines, without dropping threads.
  • A creative problem solver. Strong analytical thinking, and a bias toward building the durable solution rather than the fast patch.
  • A clear communicator. Effective in writing and in conversation, with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Minimum qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in full stack development, including hands-on integration or API work
  • Demonstrated experience with AI Coding and Python fluency
  • Experience with version control (GitHub) and modern development fundamentals
  • Experience with workflow automation tooling
  • Proven history of direct customer interaction in a technical role
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in SaaS implementation, professional services, or solutions engineering
  • Familiarity with payroll, HRIS, or workforce management systems (ADP, Paychex, UKG, CrunchTime, or similar)
  • Experience building internal tooling or self-service automation that reduced a support burden
  • Comfort using AI tooling to accelerate spec work, code, testing, data mapping, and documentation
How You'll Know You're Winning
  • Assigned integration projects ship on time, and ship at a quality that holds up in production
  • The backlog of integration requests shrinks rather than grows
  • Customer satisfaction ratings on integration work stay high
  • Custom solutions transition cleanly into production and toward self-service
  • Recurring requests get automated away instead of repeatedly absorbed
What We Offer
  • A mission-driven and value-based company dedicated to empowering deskless workers and local businesses
  • An early employee opportunity at a Series B hyper-growth startup with over $120M in funding; work with the founding team and industry veterans to accelerate your career
  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Comprehensive health coverage: medical, dental, and vision. We pay 95% of premiums for employees and 85% for dependents
  • 401(k) plan
  • In-office amenities and stocked kitchen
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Flexible PTO
