Job description

Payroll Administrator

Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to join their team in Calgary, AB (SE region) on an immediate temporary contract with potential long-term/permanent opportunity. Reporting directly to the Controller, this standalone role is responsible for ensuring the accurate, compliant, and timely execution of bi-weekly payroll for approximately 150 Alberta-based hourly and salaried employees. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of full-cycle payroll experience, strong Excel proficiency, and a collaborative, adaptable approach.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:
  • Execute full-cycle bi-weekly payroll processing for 150+ Alberta-based hourly and salaried employees accurately and on deadline
  • Process new hire onboarding documentation passed from HR into internal payroll systems
  • Administer employee benefits, issue Record of Employment (ROEs), and process employee expense reimbursements
  • Utilize structured Excel spreadsheets and payroll software to verify, upload, and reconcile payroll data
  • Maintain complete, organized, and up-to-date employee payroll records and documentation
  • Assist with ad hoc accounting support or general administrative tasks as time permits in a collaborative office environment
Your strengths include:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in full-cycle payroll processing
  • Solid understanding of Alberta employment standards and payroll compliance requirements
  • Strong technical skills with payroll systems; experience with Ceridian Dayforce is considered a strong asset
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills with confidence navigating and using established spreadsheets
  • High degree of accuracy, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information responsibly
  • Positive, team-oriented personality with a flexible, willing-to-help attitude
  • Capability to hit the ground running with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
