Job Summary
This position assists the Payroll Manager in preparing weekly & biweekly payroll and performing miscellaneous accounting functions.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Regular attendance and regularly working assigned hours at assigned location is essential. When necessary, additional duties may be assigned, and P1 expects the position holder to exercise initiative to anticipate and prevent problems.
  • Follows P1 policies and procedures.
  • Weekly Payroll Processing: Assist with processing weekly field payrolls.
  • Documentation Maintenance: Maintain accurate records for all payroll payments, ensuring taxability complies with policies and procedures.
  • Certified Payroll Assistance: Support the completion of assigned certified payrolls.
  • Union Reporting: Assist with monthly union reports and reconciliation tasks.
  • Communication Support: Handle payroll-related phone calls and emails as needed.
  • Liaison Role: Serves as a liaison between employees, manpower, union personnel, and the accounting team as needed.
  • Inquiry Resolution: Research inquiries promptly and communicate discrepancies or corrections to employees and/or the Payroll Manager.
  • Manager Support: Assist the Payroll Manager and Payroll Supervisor as required.
  • Accounting Backup: Provide backup for other accounting duties as needed.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Work experience:
    • Must have a minimum of 2 years of payroll experience.
    • Union payroll experience is preferred but not required.
  • Must be proficient in using email, database, internet, spreadsheet, and word processing applications: specifically Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be willing to learn new software applications.
  • Time management and prioritizing skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Be creative, flexible, adaptable, and possess excellent teamwork skills.
  • Works without direct supervision with different personalities and under pressure.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Other requirements: Must be able to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
