The Payroll Analyst is responsible for the oversight of the payroll general ledger process. Primarily responsible for all payroll accounting related items to ensure accurate and timely funding of payroll and payroll taxes for all associates. Works with dealership personnel and the corporate accounting team to validate that payroll information is correct and posted properly. Audits various payroll changes and system controls to ensure the payroll department is following company policy and to certify all data and processing is compliant with key controls.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Maintains and create GL posting rules and setups in the HCM
  • Reconciles bank and GL Balance Sheet accounts throughout the month
  • Reviews Employee Changes semi-monthly to verify all changes are supported with proper documentation
  • Reviews and approves payroll GLs for each Platform including the corporate office
  • Analyzes monthly reporting and work with Corp Finance Department through reconciliations
  • Works with the Controllers with any GL issues, changes, or concerns
  • Prepares Escheatment files for Tax department to send to state
  • Manages reversals and adjustments and work with payroll team and GL team to post correctly
  • Reconciles various payroll and inter-company accounts
  • Setup and maintains HSA and 401k wires
  • Imports and exports 401k contribution and feedback files
  • Prepares backup to initiate stop payments and reversals through bank
  • Prepares entries for direct deposit returns, voids, refunds, bank posting errors
  • Maintains a solid understanding of general ledger rules and payroll accounting
  • Follows payroll accounting standards
  • Performs other related duties to benefit the mission/vision of the organization

Education & Experience
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • High level of proficiency with HCM's such as UKG and Ceridian
  • Experience with payroll general ledger, payroll tax accounting, 401k and HSA files and banking
  • Ability to communicate audit results clearly and concisely to Department Head
  • Expert level in excel
  • Minimum 5 years in an Accounting/GL role
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
