Job description

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Director to oversee accurate and compliant payroll operations for a financial services environment in Atlanta, Georgia. This Long-term Contract position requires a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can manage end-to-end payroll processing, coordinate benefits and retirement-related payroll activities, and support accounting alignment across multiple payroll platforms. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, knowledge of regulatory requirements, and the ability to maintain reliable payroll data while working effectively with internal stakeholders.


Responsibilities:

• Oversee full-cycle payroll administration, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on schedule in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.

• Manage payroll activities across systems such as Workday, Ceridian, and related data processing tools to maintain consistent and dependable records.

• Review payroll inputs, deductions, earnings, tax withholdings, and adjustments to confirm completeness and accuracy before final submission.

• Partner with accounting teams to reconcile payroll-related entries, support general ledger alignment, and maintain accurate financial reporting connections with Great Plains.

• Administer payroll components tied to benefits and retirement programs, including 401(k) or RRSP-related deductions and related reporting.

• Monitor compliance with payroll laws, internal controls, and audit requirements, addressing discrepancies and implementing corrective action when needed.

• Support timekeeping and payroll data integration by working with tools such as About Time and validating imported employee information.

• Produce payroll reports, respond to inquiries, and provide clear documentation to support internal stakeholders and periodic reviews.

• Proven experience managing payroll operations, preferably within a financial services or similarly regulated environment.

• Hands-on knowledge of Workday and payroll data processing workflows.

• Familiarity with Great Plains and the coordination of payroll information with accounting functions.

• Experience supporting benefit-related payroll activity, including retirement deduction administration such as 401(k) or RRSP programs.

• Strong understanding of payroll compliance requirements, controls, and record accuracy standards.

• Ability to analyze payroll data, resolve discrepancies efficiently, and maintain confidentiality with sensitive employee information.

• Working knowledge of timekeeping systems such as About Time and their impact on payroll preparation.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage deadlines in a contract-based assignment.
