About You
We're looking for someone who has:
  • Minimum of 5 years' hands-on full-cycle payroll processing experience
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of multi-state payroll tax laws and regulations
  • Proficiency with payroll software systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in the professional services industry and/or with Deltek Vantagepoint is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Payroll certification such as FPC, CPP, or equivalent is a plus
  • Experience working in a complex, multi-state environment is preferred
  • Familiarity with timekeeping systems and benefits administration is preferred

About the Role
As a Payroll Specialist, you will:
  • Process accurate and timely payroll for employees across multiple states, including regular and off-cycle runs
  • Calculate and withhold federal, state, and local taxes ensuring compliance with varying multi-state regulations
  • Prepare and file payroll tax returns and related reports on time
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies related to tax withholdings and deductions
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing payroll laws and regulations for all applicable states
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure employee records and payroll data accuracy
  • Assist with audits related to payroll and tax compliance
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, tax deductions, and benefits
  • Support year-end payroll activities including W-2 and 1099 preparation
