Location: Smithville, TN

Salary: $50,000–$65,000 annually

Job Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage accurate and timely payroll processing while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role will oversee payroll administration, benefits and deductions, timekeeping, reporting, and employee support while partnering closely with HR and Accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly and semi-monthly payroll, including wages, overtime, taxes, deductions, and benefits.
  • Review and reconcile payroll data and maintain accurate HRIS records.
  • Manage 401(k) contributions, garnishments, child support, benefit deductions, and PTO accruals.
  • Maintain and audit timekeeping records.
  • Prepare payroll reports, journal entries, and year-end W-2/1099 documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations and employment laws.
  • Support internal and external payroll audits.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, taxes, deductions, and benefits.
  • Partner with HR and Accounting to resolve discrepancies and process employee changes.
  • Assist with payroll procedures, internal controls, and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of payroll administration experience.
  • Experience with weekly and semi-monthly payroll processing.
  • Knowledge of payroll taxes, benefits, garnishments, reporting, and compliance.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now and ADP Workforce Manager preferred.
  • CPP or FPC certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

  • Office-based position in Smithville, Tennessee.
  • Standard business hours with additional flexibility during payroll and year-end periods.
  • Upstairs office environment.
