The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing the AP function within a centralized Shared Services environment. This role ensures timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and payments, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvement across multiple business units. - Lead, mentor, and develop a team of AP supervisors, specialists, and clerks.
- Establish performance metrics and monitor team productivity and service levels.
- Foster a customer-service mindset within the Shared Services model.
- Support workforce planning, training, and succession development.
- Oversee end-to-end accounts payable processes, including:
- Invoice intake and processing
- 2-way and 3-way matching
- Payment processing (ACH, wire, check)
- Expense reimbursements
- Vendor onboarding and maintenance
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end close activities related to AP.
- Monitor aging reports and manage payment cycles to optimize working capital.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, SOX controls (if applicable), and audit requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline AP workflows.
- Leverage automation tools (OCR, ERP systems, workflow platforms).
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual processes and enhance efficiency.
- Participate in ERP implementations or upgrades.
- Develop and maintain standardized procedures across business units.
- Maintain strong internal controls to mitigate risk and prevent fraud.
- Ensure adherence to tax regulations (e.g., 1099 reporting).
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and analysis.
