Job Title: Accounts Payable (AP) Manager

Location: Northeast Houston, TX

Compensation: $110,000 – $115,000 / year

Benefits: This position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Accounts Payable Manager to lead our AP team in Northeast Houston. This role is responsible for overseeing the full accounts payable function, managing daily invoice processing operations, approving payments, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. The ideal candidate has prior management experience, a strong understanding of AP processes within a high-volume environment, and knowledge of liens and waivers related to subcontractors and vendor payments.

This position requires someone who can successfully lead and develop a team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day AP operations.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable Management

  • Oversee all accounts payable functions including invoice processing, payment approvals, and vendor management
  • Manage and lead the AP team, providing training, support, and performance oversight
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of high-volume invoices (approximately 150–200 invoices daily)
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, internal controls, and payment procedures

Payment Processing & Approvals

  • Review and approve ACH payments, wire transfers, and check runs
  • Assist with processing and approving invoices as needed
  • Ensure timely payment to vendors and subcontractors according to agreed payment terms
  • Oversee check cutting and payment distribution processes

Vendor & Subcontractor Management

  • Work directly with vendors and subcontractors regarding payment status and account inquiries
  • Assist with vendor onboarding and setup within the accounting system
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues in a timely manner
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships while enforcing company procedures

Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Monitor AP aging and cash flow impact related to payables
  • Assist with month-end close activities and reporting related to accounts payable
  • Identify opportunities to improve AP workflows, controls, and operational efficiency
  • Support audit requests and provide required AP documentation

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of accounts payable experience required
  • Prior AP management experience required
  • Must have experience managing high-volume invoice processing environments
  • Experience approving ACH payments, wire transfers, and check runs required
  • Knowledge of liens and waivers required
  • Experience working with vendors and subcontractors required
  • Strong Excel and ERP/accounting system experience preferred
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to balance hands-on responsibilities with team leadership in a fast-paced environment
