Position Description
The Light Duty Truck Manager oversees the daily operations of the light-duty truck service department, ensuring efficient workflow, high-quality repairs, and excellent service. This role manages technicians, coordinates maintenance and repairs, monitors safety and compliance, and supports productivity and cost control.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and support light-duty truck technicians and shop staff
  • Schedule, assign, and prioritize maintenance and repair work
  • Ensure repairs are completed accurately, safely, and on time
  • Monitor vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and quality control
  • Maintain compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards
  • Communicate with service advisors, customers, or fleet coordinators regarding repair status
  • Track shop performance, productivity, and turnaround times
  • Manage parts inventory, tools, and equipment needs
  • Assist with technician training, onboarding, and performance evaluations
  • Handle customer concerns or service issues professionally
  • Maintain service records, work orders, and reports

Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • 3-5 years experience working on light-duty trucks or automotive vehicles
  • 1-2 years experience in a supervisory or leadership role (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of automotive systems (engine, brakes, suspension, electrical)
  • Ability to read and interpret diagnostic data and repair documentation
  • Valid driver's license
  • Automotive or diesel technology certification or trade school training (preferred)
  • ASE certifications (preferred)
  • Experience managing a fleet or service shop environment
  • Familiarity with shop management or maintenance software
