Job description

We are looking for an experienced Grading Foreman to lead grading operations in support of asphalt paving projects. This role is responsible for supervising crews, operating grading equipment, and ensuring surfaces are prepared to meet grade, slope, and quality specifications prior to paving. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical grading knowledge and the ability to manage people, equipment, and production in a fastpaced paving environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead asphalt grading crew, including scheduling, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress

  • Ensure that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest level of quality

  • Ensure that all crew members comply with relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards

  • Communicate regularly with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure that work is completed on schedule and within budget

  • Develop and maintain relationships with crew members and subcontractors to ensure that they are aware of project schedules and deadlines

  • Train crew members on safety procedures and best practices

  • Manage project resources, including materials and equipment, to ensure that they are used efficiently and effectively

  • Identify and resolve issues that arise during construction projects

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in asphalt grading operations, including fine grading for paving with motor graders

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or vocational training preferred

  • Previous foreman or crew leadership experience strongly preferred

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze project data and identify trends and opportunities for improvement

  • Experience with government contracts and compliance is a plus
