Job purpose
The purpose of the Certified Medical Assistant/Patient Care Associate - Urology is to provide clinical and administrative support to ensure the efficient operation. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management and communicate with accuracy, quality and timeliness.
Essential Job Functions
  • Take and record vital signs and EKG
  • Room patients
  • Prepare patients for examination
  • Obtain and update patient medication
  • Administer Injections
  • Authorizing prescription refills as directed by physicians
  • Assist In Vasectomy , Cystoscopy and Biopsy Procedures.
  • Cleaning and Sterilizing Surgical Instruments.
  • Clinical Supply inventory
  • Collect Urine/Blood Specimens
  • Surgical Scheduling
  • Prior Authorizations for medications and radiology
  • Refills, Lab Orders, Lab results
  • PAT's in Progress
  • Utilize EMR System, Microsoft Teams, Excel and Additional Hospital EMRs
  • Customer Service (greet patients and engage with providers/staff/vendors)
  • Check In/ Check Out
  • Clerical duties

Education/Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Medical office experience (1 year preferred)
  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • BLS Cert
  • Proven working experience as a medical assistant or medical secretary (1 year preferred)
  • Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills

Working conditions
Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
Physical requirements
Position requires moderate physical effort, standing/walking for more than 75 percent of the day, as well as lifting objects that weight up to 10 pounds. Position may include helping to lift/arrange patients.
