INTAKE CLINICIAN - RN/MSW (Fully Licensed): Per Diem

HAVENWYCK HOSPITAL (a UHS facility)

Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital, overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents and adults. It is the ultimate goal of our dedicated staff to build strength, confidence and knowledge within each patient, in hopes that they may continue learning and understanding their needs and practicing self-care for the rest of their lives.

Havenwyck Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Intake Clinician to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The (fully licensed) Intake Clinician obtains initial clinical phone information which is communicated to the physician on call to make a final decision regarding admission. The Clinician may also schedule a clinical evaluation if appropriate for the client and contacts the physician who will make decision for the appropriate level of care: inpatient, day treatment or outpatient care. Facilitates the process by assisting the client, family and referral sources. Provides information to clients, families and referral sources regarding treatment programs, insurance and admission procedures. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Obtains initial intake information.
  • Provides clinical assessment and feedback during intake.
  • Provides information to patients and referral sources regarding treatment programs, insurances information and admission procedures.
  • Communicates with physicians, program directors, charge nurses, etc. regarding anticipated admission.
  • Provides follow-up to referral sources and patients awaiting admission.
  • Performs phone and if qualified by medical staff by law, faces to face screening evaluations to determine appropriateness of admission to the hospital.
  • Provides consultation to nurses regarding intake information and screenings. 
  • Provides referral assistance for patients assessed as inappropriate for admission.
  • Maintains accurate census board.
  • Coordinates admitting services so as to attain payor-mix and census objectives.
  • Collects records and analyzes admitting statistics and reports these to required offices.
  • Facilitates increased community relations with referral sources, patients, and families.
  • Participates in marketing projects as necessary.
  • May be required to work on call.
  • Attends hospital mandatory training/inservies as required in a timely manner. 
  • Adheres to all hospital policies.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of associates in nursing, bachelor of nursing, preferred, or masters of social work degrees.
  • At least (1) one – (3) three years of experience providing mental health services, preferably in a psychiatric hospital.
  • Current License in the State of Michigan as a Fully Licensed Social Worker (LMSW),  Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT),  Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Registered Nurse (RN) required.
  • Employee must be in good standing (employment/corrective action history, performance evaluation, etc.) to be considered for internal transfer.
