Order Intake Specialist
Under the direction and support of the Revenue Cycle Manager, the Order Intake Specialist will initiate and process all sales orders after reviewing documentation, physicians' orders, and payer information, guaranteeing dispensing of orders to patients in a timely manner.
The Order Intake Specialist requires critical thinking skills, the ability to identify problems, recommend solutions and set priorities, and achieve departmental goals. They must have a willingness to develop optimized processes to drive performance in the department and support key leadership initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond to incoming customer phone calls in a timely fashion
  • Verify eligibility and benefits of all Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and Managed Care Insurances utilizing Brightree, websites available, and direct phone calls to Insurance companies.
  • Contact service representatives at insurance companies to verify eligibility and DME benefits.
  • Process patient demographics and create a patient profile including all insurance reimbursement information.
  • Receive, review, and process orders for wound care products, following insurance qualifications and DME supplier standards.
  • Review clinical documentation to ensure compliance with payer's guidelines.
  • Works with Clinical staff regarding changes on insurance orders, due to wound care product not being covered by insurance or product not qualified for wound description following LCDs.
  • Ability to add correct HCPCS code(s), modifier(s), and ICD-10 code(s) to insurance order before dispensing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
