Job description

Summary The Pathway Mentor position is a part-time role within the Pathway program working with The Link program and Pathway program. Mentors will assist incoming first-year students with their transition to the BGSU community during The Link program as well as serve as their mentors throughout the year, providing support, encouragement, and leadership to students. They will assist with event facilitation, discussions, and UNIV class instruction.

Career Readiness Competencies: Seek feedback from supervisors and apply it to improve performance. Adjust tone and approach based on audience (e.g., peers vs. supervisors)

Analyze problems and propose practical solutions. Encourage collaboration and positive morale during team efforts. Follow instructions, meet deadlines, and deliver quality work.

Use campus tools and systems effectively to complete job tasks. Essential Functions General Responsibilities Build relationships with Link/ Pathway participants that continue throughout the semester in Pathway UNIV courses Assist Link/ Pathway participants in developing relationships with each other Role model positive attitudes and behaviors Serve as a resource for Link/ Pathway participants Attend ongoing Link staff meetings during the academic year Other duties as assigned The Link Summer Responsibilities- 2 weeks prior to the start of the semester Participate in training Facilitate programs and events Assist the program coordinator with office tasks Help create a team environment through the facilitation of team builders and icebreakers Produce skills to be successful as incoming students in The Link and Pathway program Serve as an "early alert" agent for Link students in need UNIV Class Responsibilities Prepare and facilitate discussions with Link students Meet weekly with class facilitator Hold at least 2 office hours per week to meet weekly with students in the assigned group Meet with mentees throughout the semester to support their growth and development Minimum Qualifications Be an undergraduate, full-time student with at least two semesters of residential experience at Bowling Green State University Be a student in good academic standing with cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 Work well in a group setting Demonstrate high ethical standards and strong character Demonstrate effective verbal and/or written communication skills Demonstrate the ability to think critically while making decisions Good time management, organization, and interpersonal skills.
