Position Summary
The Career Pathway Mentor provides technical support to academy students in the completion of coursework, pathway projects, and Career Technical Education (CTE) requirements during class and work-based learning activities. This position is located within the Centinela Valley Union High School District.

Position Information
Employment at Toro Auxiliary Partners is on an at-will basis and can be terminated by either an employee or Toro Auxiliary Partners at any time, with or without cause or advance notice. Permanent status can neither be obtained nor granted. This is a part-time, non-exempt, non-benefited position.
Hourly Rate: $19.00 per hour
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support to students during classroom instruction and work-based learning activities.
  • Assist students with pathway projects and assignments by offering real-time guidance, coaching, and feedback.
  • Model quality work by demonstrating skills and sharing project exemplars.
  • Train and support students in the use of pathway-related equipment, software, and programs.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance, organization, and inventory management.
  • Help identify project materials, equipment, and purchasing needs.
  • Provide feedback to the teacher regarding student work performance to inform final evaluations.

Qualifications/Education:
  • Experience utilizing and current training in Industry-level equipment/software/programs.
  • Enrollment in at least 6 units per term/semester at a 2-year or 4-year institution, or possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Candidates must maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 to qualify for or continue employment, or demonstrate equivalent experience in the relevant career pathway industry.

Desired Experience
Successful candidates should demonstrate industry-specific experience aligned with the career pathway, as well as experience supporting secondary students in career-pathway, technical, or project-based learning environments. Candidates should be able to provide technical guidance, model high-quality work, support work-based learning activities, and assist with equipment, industry-standard tools, software, and program logistics.
Hours: Not to exceed 20 hours per week; hours vary by program and may include school-day, after-school, weekend, and school-break hours (e.g., Summer, Winter Break, Spring Break, etc.).
