Location: Summit Pathology, Loveland, CO
Title: Cytology Processing Lab Assistant
Hourly Pay Rate: $20 per hour
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 12:30pm to 9:00pm
Summit Pathology is looking to add an enthusiastic team player to our fast-paced, growing pathology company, as an evening shift Cytology Processing Lab Assistant.
As a Cytology Processing Lab Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting our Pathologist, Cytotechs, and Molecular Techs in accessioning and preparation duties, including:
  • Test ordering with accurate order entry of patient data and requested testing in supported LIS
  • Clear communication among team members
  • Preparation and processing of cytology non-gynecological and gynecological specimens in accordance with good laboratory practice
  • Maintaining cytology prep laboratory inventory, supplies and general upkeep
  • Contribute as a team member in cross training for all cytology lab assistant activities
  • Routinely interacting with all departments at Summit Pathology to optimize patient care
  • In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon Summit Pathology needs or requirements.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. An earned or associate degree, in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology obtained from an accredited institution Or, education/training equivalent to the above that includes at least 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution is preferred. This education must include 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses that includes six semester hours of chemistry, six semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination.
  • Medium work-exerting >25 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently. Involves frequent standing, walking, sitting, movement, and hand use.
  • All work will be performed within the laboratory and in close proximity to chemicals, electrical instruments, computers, and other laboratory equipment.

Additional considerations will be given to those with:
  • An earned Bachelor of Science degree, with a human anatomy course, obtained from an accredited institution.
