  • Lab Assistant I (3rd Shift โ€“ Full-Time)
    Sun, Monโ€“Thurs | 8:00 PM โ€“ 4:30 AM
  • Lab Assistant I (Part-Time)
    Monโ€“Fri | 4:00 PM โ€“ 8:00 PM (20 hours/week)
  • Pathology Lab Assistant II (2nd Shift โ€“ Full-Time)
    Monโ€“Fri | 3:00 PM โ€“ 11:30 PM

Compensation

  • PLA I: $20.00 โ€“ $21.00/hour (High school diploma required)
  • PLA II: $21.00 โ€“ $22.00/hour (Science degree required)


Shift Differentials:

  • 2nd Shift: +$2.00/hour
  • 3rd Shift: +$4.00/hour


Position Summary

The Pathology Lab Assistant I & II supports laboratory operations by performing specimen handling, data entry, and clerical functions to ensure accurate and timely processing of patient samples. This role is essential in maintaining workflow efficiency and supporting diagnostic services.


Key Responsibilities

Lab Assistant I:

  • Receive, label, and prepare specimens for processing
  • Enter patient and specimen data into laboratory systems
  • Maintain specimen integrity and follow proper handling procedures
  • Assist with clerical and administrative lab tasks
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards

Lab Assistant II (Advanced Responsibilities):

  • Perform all Lab Assistant I duties
  • Verify and reconcile specimen information for accuracy
  • Assist with more complex specimen processing and workflow coordination
  • Troubleshoot specimen discrepancies
  • Support training of new or junior staff


Qualifications

Lab Assistant I:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0โ€“2 years of experience in healthcare, laboratory, or customer service
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Basic computer/data entry skills

Lab Assistant II:

  • Associateโ€™s or Bachelorโ€™s degree in a science-related field required
  • 2+ years of laboratory or healthcare experience preferred
