Description:
We are seeking a pathologist to join our team.
This position is open due to resignation.
Coverage is needed starting August 10, 2026, until the position is filled.
Credentialing takes approximately 90 days to complete.
The practice setting is a hospital-based pathology lab.
The schedule consists of day shifts with hours between 7:30 am and 5:30 pm, depending on rotation.
The call schedule is every seven days with a call ratio of 1:7.
On average, there are about 40 patients per day.
The trauma level designation is 1.
The laboratory holds CAP certification.
Approximately 80 to 100 cases are read per day.
The locum tenens physician will be responsible for blood bank call at night.
The locum provider will not be grossing their own specimens or cutting their own frozen sections on the cryostat.
There are six physicians in the group, five histotechnologists, one pathology assistant, and one cytotechnologist.
The locum tenens physician will not be required to supervise other healthcare providers.
Other pathologists will be present during the locum's coverage.
The available equipment includes a Leica cryostat and an Olympus BX40 microscope.
Required anatomic pathology procedures include:
- Surgical Pathology
- GI Pathology
- GU Pathology
- Neuropathology
- Dermatopathology
- Hematopathology (Bone Marrow, Lymph Nodes)
- Interpretation of Bone Marrow Aspirate/Biopsy
- Cytology
Required clinical pathology procedures include:
- Hematology
- Microbiology
- Chemistry/Serology
- Blood Bank
Additional required procedures:
- Rapid evaluation of adequacy for image-guided biopsies.
