Job description

POSITION PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to provide guidance and coordination for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program for the parish.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with the pastor and other staff in implementing the mission of the parish. This is accomplished by participating in comprehensive planning, implementation, and evaluation of Parish programs, goals, and objectives with specific focus on Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
  • Recruit catechists and aides for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) program.
  • Coordinate registration, class schedules, parent communication and development of new teaching materials for the four (4) Levels of the CGS program.
  • Nurture training of new and existing catechists to support the growth of the program.
  • Participates as a member of the parish pastoral staff. This is accomplished by collaborating in cooperative ventures with other parish programs, organizations and individuals and by participation in staff meetings.
  • Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required to function as the Coordinator of CGS. This may be accomplished through reading appropriate materials, participating in formation opportunities and attending approved and appropriate workshops.
  • Performs other responsibilities as maybe assigned by the pastor.
  • CGS certified with an openness to further formation.
  • A practicing Catholic and active member of a parish in good standing with the Church.
  • Experience as a catechist and familiarity with CGS methodology and principles are preferred.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule (days, evenings and weekends)
  • Effective in verbal and written English
  • Able to use time well
  • Highly organized

SCHEDULE OF DUTIES:

            This is a year round 20-hour a week position.

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
